Virtual Distance Dash 5K Run/Walk and Anti-5K

The UW-Platteville Distance Education Alumni Board, a chapter of the UW-Platteville Alumni Association, is hosting the Virtual Distance Dash 5K Run/Walk and Anti-5K. This virtual event was created to raise money to support the Distance Education Alumni Board Scholarship, which provides additional financial support to UW-Platteville distance education students. The event also serves as a way for distance education alumni and students, along with their friends and families, to participate in a shared activity and connect online from anywhere in the world. All are welcome to join in!

The Distance Dash/Anti-5k will take place during the UW-Platteville Center for Distance Learning’s National Distance Learning Week celebration, which is November 4–10. Follow our Facebook event to keep up with event news and connect with other participants.

Virtual Distance Dash 5K Run/Walk

Run or walk a distance of 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) any time and anywhere between Sunday, November 4, and Saturday, November 10, and then post your time online (you will be sent information about how to post your time once you have registered). The top three times will win free registration in next year’s race. All participants will receive an electronic race bib to print out and wear while they run or walk. Participants will also receive a race medal—or may opt out if they choose—via postal mail two to three weeks after the race.

Virtual Anti-5K

If you do not want to complete a 5K but would still like to participate, sign up for our Virtual Anti-5K! Participants can complete an alternate activity anytime between Sunday, November 4 and Saturday, November 10. Read a book, watch a game, Netflix binge, take a nap, learn to knit—you choose! See if you can spend 3.1 hours (3 hours and 6 minutes) doing your activity. Or just do nothing—this is the Anti-5K! After you complete your Anti-5K, share what you did online (you will be sent information about how to post it once you have registered). All participants will receive an electronic race bib to print out and wear while they complete their Anti-5K. Participants will also receive a medal—or may opt out if they choose—via postal mail two to three weeks after the race.
